One of my first sewing loves is refashioning and upcycling. I used to refashion all the time in high school to make my clothing unique. I thought it was so fun to create something new by combining old things. I had new ideas all the time and couldn’t keep up with my inspiration. I still can’t keep up with my sewing list, and I have even less time to refashion so when I do get to refashion it’s extra sweet. Especially when it requires no sewing! Each of these four refashion tutorials can be done with lace, a top, iron, and hem tape. (Scroll to the end for the giveaway!)

Lace Shoulder Tee Refashion Tutorial4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut the hem tape to fit across the front of the tee, the back of the tee, and around the shoulders to connect the front and the back. Keep it near the neckline so that it doesn’t affect the fit of the tee. I have angles on the edges of the sleeve instead of have a straight line all the way around the tee.
  2. Follow the product’s instructions to iron it to the shirt. 4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade
  3. Peel off the paper backing from each piece. Place the lace over the iron on and iron in place. Start with one raw edge of the lace on the back and go all the way around.
  4. When you get to the end, overlap the edge of the lace over the over raw edge. I put a piece of the iron on tape between the two overlapping edges to seal it.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut your hem tape to the lengths you want. I added the hem tape across the pocket flaps, down the button placket, across the back yoke, and around the sleeve cuffs. *I ironed the hem tape right over the button holes but not over buttons.4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade
  2. Cut the lace pieces to be the same length as all the hem tape lengths.
  3. Iron the hem tape onto all the places you want it to be.
  4. Remove the paper backing and iron the lace onto the hem tape.4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade
  5. Now you need to fix the buttonholes you covered. Using a seam ripper carefully cut through the lace and hem tape that’s over the buttonhole. Make sure the button can still fit through the hole.4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut almost a yard of your lace. Tie it into a bow and then double knot the bow.
  2. Lay it on the tee where you want the bow to be. Press it so that the folds of the bow are creased how you want it to be.4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade
  3. Cut small sections of the hem tape and lay them under the straight parts of the bow designs. I didn’t cover my whole bow; I used ten small pieces under ten sections of my bow.
  4. Iron the hem tape onto the tee. Remove the paper backing.
  5. Iron the bow onto the hem tape to keep it in place.4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade

Shoe Lace Refashion4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut the lace in half. Place the lace on the shoe where you’d like it to be. Use pins to pin it in place.
  2. Cut the edges of the lace to fit the shape and line up with the sole of the shoe.4 No-Sew Lace Refashion Tutorials - Heather Handmade
  3. Remove the pins and take off the lace.
  4. Put dots of the Fabric Fuse all over the lace piece. Place the lace on the shoes and smooth it out. You might have to fiddle with it for a little bit to get it in the right place. *At first when I placed the lace on the shoes, the wet Fabric Fuse made the lace look blue. After it dried, the blue when away.
