Me Made {Postpartum}: Floral Swing Tee and Asymmetrical Swing Tee

I've been sewing easy projects lately, but I've been really bad at sharing them on here. Taking pictures is all that's holding me back. And having no energy at 39 weeks. I have finished almost everything on my "to-do before baby" list, so I've just been spending lots of time relaxing and playing with the kids.
Well, I was happy where I was until I saw that Becca is hosting a wardrobe in a week: spring capsule sewalong on her blog. A bunch of people have joined in on the facebook page, and it's really fun to see what everyone is making. I wish I could join in, but my body size/shape and wardrobe needs going to be constantly changing in the next couple of months. But I did get inspired to make two tees that will be great for postpartum.
For both of these tees, I used the free (if you join her Love Notions facebook group) Laundry Day Tee pattern. It's a great pattern and really simple to make. This first one I made with a rayon spandex blend with a pretty floral print. I was originally going to save this for Claire, but I decided to use it for myself. I'm really glad I did, because I love this shirt. I think the silhouette will be very flattering for postpartum. It'll be taking me through Spring and Summer. I'm thinking the drapey style will be like a tee with a built in scarf or nursing cover.
The second tee I made I used a heathered black rayon spandex blend fabric. The fabric is fantastic, but it was so off-grain that I used two yards to make this. (I used only used 1 yard for the floral tee.) I had to do some tricky planning to make this tee work. I made it with long sleeves for cold Spring days and for next Fall and Winter.
I wanted to make an asymmetrical hem so I added length to the front, but I forgot to add length to the back. I made it anyway with just a curved back hem. I think it works, and I love the asymmetrical hem.

  1. Those look fantastic! And that pattern looks awesome. Too bad not everyone does facebook!(I don't do a lot of social media, so it is a real bummer when things have to go thru facebook/instagram/twitter to enter a give away or get a cool free pattern.) I can't wait to see pictures of you wearing them this spring/summer.

  2. Love the second one, the asymmetrical hem worked beautifully.

  3. 39 weeks already! Time flies indeed! All the best for the next few weeks :) Looking forward to meeting your new bub :) The tees are wonderful! I do love the asymmetrical look of the long sleeved tee.
