Me Made: DIY Belly Bands with Shirt Hems

Wouldn't it be great if you could keep wearing more of your non-maternity clothing while pregnant? The problems I always have are my regular shirts are too short, and I can't button my regular jeans. Well, you could use a belly band, which is great, but what about a fun, stylish belly bend that doesn't even look like a belly band!? I made some using knit and cut off shirts: one with a button up shirt hem and one with a gathered chiffon shirt hem. If you'd like to to make some, look at the belly band with shirt hem tutorial over at DIY Maternity!
These specialty belly bands do three things while looking cute and stylish:
  1. They bridge the gap if my shirts or sweaters are too short.
  2. They help hold up my pants.
  3. They cover my backside when I wear leggings.
Don't forget to check out the really easy tutorial!

  1. Oh, I need some of these for my non-pregnant belly! My part-time job at the library has a lot of bending and stooping and I'm always worried about my back side showing! These would be perfect!! Thank you for sharing this idea! I've got a Craft Gossip post scheduled for later this morning that features your tutorial: http://sewing.craftgossip.com/?p=86187 --Anne

  2. You are simply radiant :) These bands look great!
