Sewing for the Girl: Faux Fur Vest

Last year I thrifted a baby fur vest for Claire and really wanted her to have one again this year. Luckily, I had enough leftover from my fur vest to make one for her. I hope she loves it as much as I do; I have loved the fur vest I made for myself! It's warm, cozy, and stylish. I love this faux fur fabric. It matches so many different items because there's so many natural colors in the fur.
I traced Claire's coat torso for the pattern. It is extra long and a little big, but then she can wear it over sweaters and sweatshirts (and maybe, hopefully, it'll work next year too). I used a yellow jersey fabric for the inside which makes it soft and comfortable. Vests are simple and so fast!
The faux fur is really long making it really warm and cozy. Claire loves her "puppy" jacket and matching with me.
The only thing I forgot about was that Claire can and will take it off any chance she gets. I need to add a little loop and botton to the front to keep it on her!

  1. I love it! I have a vintage faux fur jacket from my mother. I've been keeping it for years, planning to make a vest for me and one matching for G. but somehow I am always too scared to do it. Maybe 2016 will be the year I'll finally get it done... hahaha
