Sewing for the Girl: Buffalo Plaid and Fur Dress

I made one more dress using the Blue Ridge Dress pattern (also see her Christmas dress). I sewed it up quickly because the pattern was already printed out, and I had a plaid button up shirt that was asking to be upcycled. I love buffalo plaid and especially in a yummy navy. I decide to switch up the pattern by having the existing button placket go down the back of the dress and re-using the existing curved shirt hem. I also added a fur peter pan collar! It's the frosting on the cake of this dress.
That fur collar is just fantastic. It's so soft and warm and sophisticated and Claire loves it. She calls it her puppy dress because it feels like petting a puppy. I did topstitch the front two inches of the collar to keep the fur from getting up in her chin and mouth. (I also love Claire's BLUE eye in this picture. I forget how truly blue her eyes are.)
I wish I could have made this a long sleeved dress because it's winter, but this was as long as I could make the sleeves. It's great with a cardigan though with the fur collar peaking over top.
