Sewing for the Girl: Christmas Dresses for the Holiday Debut Tour

I'm so excited to share Claire's Christmas dress today! It's part of the big Holiday Debut Tour which is a tour of the three patterns: the Fishtail Kimono, the Blue Ridge Dress and the Abby Footed Tights for the holidays. There are lots of bloggers on the tour showing their versions of the patterns, and there's a giant giveaway at the end of this post!

I decided to use the Blue Ridge Dress pattern and the Abby Footed Tights. These are really fun patterns! I love the dress pattern. The front and back curve are so perfect. I used a white plisse fabric with gold metallic stripes that I found it in a remnant bin. I made a size 12 mos with 18 mos length. The alterations I made to the dress pattern were to widen the shoulders slightly so that I could add sleeves. I drafted some gathered sleeves which makes it warm. I also decided to only add the bias tape to the waist seam since I was using store-bought bias tape with a crocheted trim.

I made Claire's tights out of some gold stretch velvet (leftover from this pencil skirt). They are fantastic! I made a 12 mos size and they are still a little long, but they'll work for most of the winter. Oh, how I love that crocheted trim on the bias tape. It's so girly and the pop of green makes it perfect for the holidays.

Both patterns are really well done, and I enjoyed sewing them. I loved the dress pattern so much that I already made another one (I'm hoping to post about it tomorrow!). The tights are a super quick and satisfying pattern. I love patterns like that! Claire loved dancing around in her dress.
