Feathers Flights // Sewing Blog: Floral Pompom Shorts

Floral Pompom Shorts

I made this before KCW, but I'm just getting around to sharing it. I was inspired by all the floral shorts on pinterest and decided to make a pair for Claire. I drafted a simple shorts pattern and bias bound the edges and added the pompoms. It was a new way of constructing shorts for me. It was a great challenge. Miss grumpy pants likes her shorts and playing with the pompoms, but she was mad at me for putting her on a chair so she couldn't escape.
I got the pretty floral fabric from the remnant bin at Joanns. The bias trim and the pompom trim was on clearance at Walmart. I love rummaging through remnant and sale bins.
I accidentally made them a little snug, so she's probably going to grow out of them really fast. I love them so I'm going to have her wear them a lot.
I love that the pompoms wiggle when she walks. She loves to touch them and hold them.
 How is your KCW going?

  1. I haven't sewn a thing! But I promised my kindergartner her Easter dress would get finished so she can wear it for her program. Which is Friday. Guess I better get a moving on it. The bodice is cut out, just need to find some squares for the skirt. I am doing the Paper Fan Dress by Anna Maria Horner for Janome. A free pattern that is adorable. Wish me luck!
