Me Made: Floral Hudson Pants

I was still on the prowl for floral sweatshirt fleece. I needed that floral in my life. I had gone for floral polar fleece and floral ponte de roma, but it just wasn't cutting it. Even though I love those sweatshirts, I should have just saved my money for something really good. I found Liberty sweatshirt fleece, but it's $30 a yard. Seriously? There was no way I could rationalize purchasing that. After searching around I found some gorgeous vintage, watercolor floral sweatshirt fleece (there's still one yard left!) on etsy. I love the print better than any other fabric I'd found. I took a risk and waited to see if I loved it a couple of weeks later. I did! So after doing an extra alterations job, I used that money to buy the fabric. It came out to $30 for two yards which is way more expensive that I like to pay, but I really love the fabric. I used the fabric to make some Hudson Pants which is one of my very favorite patterns.

I have worn these every single week since making them because I love them so much. They are comfortable but so cute and trendy. I feel dressed up enough to wear them to the store but dressed down enough to be relaxed. I would wear them everyday if I could! I learned from this experience to wait for the good stuff. Don't impulse buy because it's on sale. Just wait and get what I love and will wear all the time. It'll save me money in the long run! It's not that I don't love those other sweatshirts, they just aren't the colorways I would've chosen if I was thinking it through.

What fabric are you really crushing on right now?

  1. Knits, good for undershirts. I have perfected my undershirt pattern, and am now on the look out for good quality knits to make me undershirts with. Also, knits for making my hubby some shirts, just basic t-shirts. He has a hard time finding a shirt he loves in a price he is willing to pay. (He also lost a substantial amount of weight. Yea him!)
I have gotten to the point where I would rather make me and my kids shirts/sweatshirts/dresses than pants. Pants, I haven't gotten brave enough. :) Your pants look gorgeous! And I agree, wait to find the perfect fabric, don't settle. :)

  2. Hmm. Where did my comment go? I'm not sure. So sorry if this is a double - but I love these pants! I struggle to not just 'cheap out' and buy something I don't 100% love because it's less expensive. It's a bad habit, and then I don't end up wearing whatever I made. Your post is a good reminder to keep fighting that instinct :)

  3. P.S. Love the wayyou styled your hair. Done, yet it looks like you spent more than a few seconds to throw it in a ponytail. You are adorable. :)
