The Lion: Boys 2013 Fall/Winter Collection

This is first pieces in Henry's Fall/Winter line just in time for Project Run and Play! I haven't started working on anything else, so you'll have to wait awhile for the rest. (I'll probably put it all together during Kid's Clothing Week.) Anyway, this is my design for plaid week: the lion. My inspiration for the collection is a lion, and I think the fur hat looks like a mane!
I'm so happy I get to post about Henry on his birthday! He turns two today, and I can't believe he's grown up into a fun and adorable boy. He loves everything with wheels, joking and being silly, wearing hats, and animals. He's really good at being soft, and giving hugs and kisses. I can see lots of my personality and lots of my husband's personality in him. I can't wait to see what comes next!
For the coat I used a wool blend fabric I found in my church's closet that nobody wanted. It has tons of colors (like purple and maroon), so I had to be really careful when I cut it out. Luckily, the blues, browns, and tans are all the colors that I'm using in the 2013 Fall/Winter collection. I used Compagnie M's free coat pattern that I altered lots to make it look masculine. It's still huge on Henry and I have to go back and fix some things, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. He'll be able to grow, and wear chunky sweaters underneath.  and maybe wear it next year.
For the pants I used Titchy Threads free skinny skinny jeans pattern. I didn't really check any measurements because I was trying to get this outfit done for Project Run and Play, and the pants turned out huge. Luckily, the waist is adjustable so it'll fit him all winter and next year. I want to make some more of these, but I'll have to fiddle with the pattern a lot more.
I decided not to add a hood to the coat because Henry LOVES wearing hats. (He has five and chooses one to wear every time he goes outside!) Instead, I decided to make him a fantastic fur lumberjack hat because I got some fur from Scary from the Shaffer Sisters. I used Delia's lumberjack hat tutorial. It came together quickly and looks great! It was much easier than I thought it would be!
You better believe Henry was loudly "roaring" the entire photoshoot. It was hilarious.
(He was waiting for cars to drive by!)
