Linen Summer Pants and I Need Outfit Help

My sister-in-law wears awesome summery linen pants, and I've always wanted some. Well, I got some red tinted linen from a friend and decided to make my own pants. I used the drawstring pants pattern from Burdastyle. (You get another no-make up no shoes day!)
The pattern was really easy and really quick to sew up. I love them! They are breezy and cool and I love the loose fit and high waist.
They keep me cooler than even jean shorts. I do wish they were wider at the hem. Since it was the first time I used this pattern, I did quite know how they would turn out. Next time I'm going to widen the bottom so it's more of a trouser fit.
Now that you've seen the pants, I need some help! What do I wear these pants with? It's not quite pink and not quite red so I don't know what to pair it with. Can I wear a heathered tee with it? Do I wear floral or stripes? Do you think linen counts as a "pattern", so I can't go too wild on top? Please help me!

  1. I think a floral shirt would look cute, but you could also just dye the pants a darker pink (or purple, or blue) if that would make it easier to match them. I've done it a few times, and linen takes dye beautifully!

  2. I love to work with linen, but I don't have any clothes made out of this material,I don't like to spend a lot of time ironing and usually linen asks for it. hehe. As for what to pair it with, I would go for a neutral colour, if it was me, I would use a white tank top... but that's my personal opinion of course.

  3. Definitely wear whatever pattern you want on top. Even if it was a pattern, it's so subtle, I'd say it counts as a solid. And practically a neutral color, too, even with the tint to it. The pants are super cute!

  5. I think a nice navy or royal blue (pattern or solid) would look great with them! It's hard to tell in the pictures the exact color.

  6. I never would have guessed that they weren't khaki. I think you could wear anything with them. And they would look cute cut into a capri, with a cuffed hem as well.
    Well done!

  7. I count linen as a solid. I love linen pants! I think you can treat these as a pretty neutral pair of pants even with the red hue.

  9. anything goes in my opinion, but then I've never been one to follow rules when it comes to clothes! ... dress it up with a blouse and some heels or dress it down with a tee and sneaks. It's definitely a solid in my books and any print or colors would work well with that shade of pink. Just have fun with it!

  10. I would definitely consider linen to be a solid, not a print. As far as styling, I'd treat these pants as a neutral and go as wild as you want on top! Since they are slightly pink, something green (a bright, summery green) might complement them nicely.
