Tire Track Shirt and Gray Corduroy Skinnies: Boys 2013 Spring/Summer Line

Today is day one for Henry's 2013 Spring/Summer fashion line! It was so much fun to sew a line of clothing because I got to design and sew pieces that coordinate with each other. The design process was really fun! When I first starting sketching and coming up with ideas, I remembered this shirt that I had and didn't wear that often. It was cool but the colors weren't me and I didn't wear it that often. I decided to use this shirt as a base. It had three great colors: gray, white, and chartreuse and then I added red to the collection also.
This shirt is so awesome because it looks like it has tire tracks all over it. I used a pattern from the book Kwik Sew's Sewing for Toddlers for the shirt and re-used the original neckline. I asked Henry what a lion says, and I captured him roaring.
I don't know what Henry was doing in this picture, and forgive his chocolate milk spill on his shirt.
For the pants I cut up some thrifted gray corduroy pants. I used this skinnies pattern which I also used for these pants and these pants. I LOVE this pants pattern!
The pocket facing on the front pockets is red which ties into the red in the rest of the collection. Oh, and Henry's shoes are a Christmas gift. They match perfectly with the whole collection!
This outfit is fun and each piece is basic enough to go with the other pieces.

  1. I followed the same thought pattern, for my daughters spring/summer wardrobe I tried to find lots of mix& match things so that they can easily be thrown together without being too match-y. You should come check it out, i even mixed a b&W stripe with florals for some fun. :)

  2. I love that shirt!
I just started working on summer clothes for my boys. My goal is to clothe them spending little-to-nothing. (The hardest part is that we have twins, so double sewing!)
Great job, thank you for sharing.
