Little Boy Easter Outfit

Since I'm making Henry a Spring/Summer collection this year (which I'm almost done with!), I decided one outfit would be a nice Easter or formal outfit. I made a vest with matching pants, a tie, and a shirt. I tried not to make them too matchy-matchy so that they can be mixed and matched. I love that it's trendy and classic, toddler boy friendly, and masculine. I really love the colors too!
For the shirt I used Small Dreamfactory's pattern and tutorial. I would not recommend it unless you have made a man's button up shirt before. There are no pictures, and the instructions aren't that great. I do like having a pattern to print off though. Luckily, I was able to make it work even though I'm not completely happy with the fit. I just hope it'll fit him for a month or two! I used cotton pants for the green fabric and chambray for the under collar and front pocket. It's the same chambray I used on the pants. I also made a chambray hem facing so I could keep as much length as possible.
For the vest I used A Place in the Cloud's vest pattern and tutorial. This one is great, and I do recommend it! I cut up some pinstripe stretch capris for the vest. I used navy lining for the back and bright yellow lining inside. I added faux welt pockets to the front. It is a little wide for him, but then it will hopefully fit him for a long time. (My dad was distracting Henry with a family picture so that he would sit still!)
For Henry's pants I used Running With Scissor's toddler jeggings pattern and tutorial. (I also used it for these pants.) I love this pattern so much! I used the same fabric as the vest and then added chambray for the pocket facing and the back yoke. There is also lime green fabric in the pocket lining. I was able to cut the back pieces to keep the original welt pockets.
For Henry's tie I used this tie tutorial from one of my husbands stained ties. It matches perfectly!
I love my photo-bombing husband in this picture! I love my boys!

  9. Any thoughts on how well the pants would fit over a cloth diaper bum? Or how to adjust the pattern to make it roomier for said diapers? Thanks

    1. I'm not sure because I've never used a cloth diaper. I'm not sure how much bigger they are. I bet if you asked Jessica from Running With Scissors she could help. She's the one that came up with the pattern!
