Anthropologie's Patagonian Maxi Skirt Knock-Off

Last post of my skirt kick. I haven't made any or thought of any new ones since finishing this one. I wanted a maxi skirt and fell in love with Anthropologie's Patagonian Maxi Skirt. I love how simple it is and the stripes.
I couldn't find gray striped fabric but I did find tan striped fabric. Can't even tell the difference in the fabric besides the stripes, eh?
It is super comfy, and I love not shaving.
It also helps a little against mosquitoes! Or maybe I just taste gross to mosquitoes.
Instead of doing an elastic waistband, I added a drawstring so I can cinch it up or let it out as I need. The only other difference between my skirt and Anthropologie's skirt is that mine has one center back seam while they have two side seams. I went with something simpler.
I measured my waist, and the width I wanted at the bottom, and I cut each in half. I folded my fabric in half and cut out my waist measurement and hem measurement with my desired length measurement. I cut along a stripe on the top and the bottom. Sew the one seam together, sew a waist casing, and insert my drawstring. That's it! It's really fast. The skirt is longer where the seam is so I ended up trimming it a little more than the front but you can't tell.
My lovely sister took these photos for me because she was working on her swimsuit at my apartment. (It's almost done!) We got a little crazy. Want to see some bloopers? I have a great face.
Happy Friday!

  2. LOL! I love the bloopers! I am big on easy skirts that don't need patterns. I DO need to find a good pattern for my next Hawaii dress though...eek!
