Summer Picnic Skirt

I had two red, checked pillowcases in my stash that needed some refashioning. I unpicked them, cut one in half, used one and half, and made this skirt. the fabric reminds me of summer and picnics.
I also added some asymmetrical tucks and a big red flower.
It's a basic elastic casing waistband, and the pillowcases already had hems. (It was really windy.)
I don't think I'll sew asymmetrical tucks again. I struggled a lot with them. Just stick with horizontal tucks. Luckily the flower covers all my problems.
Summertime. Makes me want to eat watermelon with a glass of ice water outside in the sun.

  1. How adorable! It looks so cute on you. I've tried and tried to get flowers to look like that but mine always come out poofier. You have inspired me to try again!
