Summer Picnic Skirt

I had two red, checked pillowcases in my stash that needed some refashioning. I unpicked them, cut one in half, used one and half, and made this skirt. the fabric reminds me of summer and picnics.

I also added some asymmetrical tucks and a big red flower.

It's a basic elastic casing waistband, and the pillowcases already had hems. (It was really windy.)

I don't think I'll sew asymmetrical tucks again. I struggled a lot with them. Just stick with horizontal tucks. Luckily the flower covers all my problems.

Summertime. Makes me want to eat watermelon with a glass of ice water outside in the sun.
