Feathers Flights // Sewing Blog: Me Made: Ombre Lace Skirt

Me Made: Ombre Lace Skirt

I love all the ombre stuff going on lately. I might even paint one of my dressers in graduating colors. Anyway, I made an ombre skirt with different colors of lace. I love lace and always feel so girly wearing it. I'm cheap and only got three different colors of lace, but I still think it looks good.
Basically all I did was make a knit tube in different colors (easy tutorial here) and then sewed lace on top.
The black lace is sheet lace, and the gray and white lace were strips of lace. The black lace was quick to sew on while the white and gray lace took longer because I had to sew each row.
This skirt is a nice break from my elastic waist gathered skirts. I was getting a little tired of feeling like I'm bigger than I am. I think this shows of my curves, meaning growing belly, nicely.
Lace makes me happy. And so do pencil skirts. Hope everybody is enjoying life!

  1. That's beautiful! I would love to make one; my mom has (literally) tons of lace in the closet downstairs. I know where I'm headed :)

  2. what a great idea I love the ombre skirt so creative.

  3. I just happened upon your blog and find it very interesting. My mom tailored, too, so I did learn to sew a minimum, but you're a pro! Love what you did with the wedding dress--so elegant. And the lace skirt is cute. I will visit again...and congrats on the pregnancy.
    best, nadia

  4. Very cute. I need to see what lace my mom and grandma have, so I don't have to buy any!

  5. I love that lace, I wonder where you got it?! Just kidding haha. Loving the pretty skirt and your little bump :) I really want to get together and sew!
