Feathers Flights // Sewing Blog: Nails and Refashioning Packet

Nails and Refashioning Packet

Painting my nails always makes me feel feminine. Especially when it's bright colors and animal print. I won a giveaway at Livy Love and these are what I won.
I couldn't choose just one to do; I was too excited, so I used both. A little feminine and a little funky. And the nail polish strips are fantastic. They are so easy and look so good. And you don't have to wait for them to dry! That's the best part because I'm impatient.
I think it affected my dreams because last night I had a dream about being a lion in a dog's world.
My grandpa found this packet from 1958 about refashioning clothing and kindly gave it to me. How cool is this!?
It has tips for refashioning and then actual pictures and detailed instructions. Some good tips are: set in a yoke to cover old buttonholes, add false cuffs to lengthen sleeves, and cover holes/worn spots with patch pockets.
I really, really want to make this dress out of a man's suit. It looks way cute!
This says it's a minor alteration to make a women's suit into a dress. It doesn't seem easy, but I really want to do it.
I can't wait to use the ideas from this book or maybe I just want to wear all 1950's clothing, all the time.

  1. Wow your nails look great! I definitely want to try that...

And that's crazy that your grandpa found that packet from so long ago! Awesome!

  2. Love the blend! This is a great idea! I really wanted to try the new SH nail "polish" but when I realized that it was $10/ application, I passed! But, if I just did a couple of nails each time and then chose another color to coordinate...hmmmm...yes! You are a creative genius!

  4. I want some of those polish strips. How cool!

  5. I love that nail polish. That yellow is such a pretty color. I also really love your wedding ring though I realize that is completely a side note. haha, it's super pretty though.
I'm so jealous of your gift from your grandma! What a gem of a book. It has super cool ideas too, that skirt from a man's suit is adorable.
