Dreamy Dress: Designed by Me

This dress is a great representation of me and what I love. I love sky blue, lace, a pretty pattern, piping, empire lines, and princess lines.
The inspiration for this dress came while I was taking a pattern-making class. We were looking at asymmetrical designs and this dress came to me. After talking to my sister about it, (I'm not great at making sewing/design decisions without the approval of my sister.) I set out to make the dress. These pictures are from a photoshoot with Janika E. Photography. Janika provided the lace and the cute shoes.
This dress is an empire waist dress with princess lines, both very flattering for most people. It has lace piping that I made around the neckline, waist line, and sleeve hem. The neckline is asymmetrical in front and back with three buttons on the front overlap and an invisible zipper on the back overlap.
I just love lace.
I also love this dress and how it turned out. It really is a dream come true for me to design and make a dress that I love.
The buttons are perfect.
You can read pasts posts about this dress where I dreamed upfound perfect fabric (from a sheet!), and got photographed partway through with Lissa Clair Photography

  4. So beautiful!! Isn't it a fantastic feeling to create something that you love? Fantastic :)

  5. Wow, I want one! You should make a pattern for sale. I love everything about it: it's on trend, has sleeves, is long enough, and wouldn't expose my generous chest! Now why can't clothing companies get it?! Oh, and I don't have to buy something to layer under it! Yes, I am on my soap box.

  6. Wow, I love it! It is trendy, long enough, mhas sleeves, I don't have to layer and my generous chest wouldn't fall out of it. Perfect! Are you going to make a pattern for sale?

    1. Thank you! I'm so happy you like it! It was so fun to create! I haven't decided about the pattern. I didn't do an easy construction, so I'd have to make it a different way. And I don't even know how to grade patterns!
