Family Resolutions

I love making resolutions every year because it's exciting to look at the year and hope for so many good things. It's fun to think of the things you'll accomplish. It's not fun to feel guilty halfway through the year when you think of what you haven't accomplished. My husband came up with a great idea for our goals. It's called the "Dream Board." It has all of our goals, wishes, and dreams.
We cut up magazines of all the things we want or want to do in our lives and put it up on a bulletin board.
A family and a dog, serving as missionaries together for our church, and a list of our 2011 goals.
A home with a yard, a porch, and a fireplace, and maybe even a window seat and a piano
A random list of things to be happy. I want to be happy in my future, don't you?
Also, I'm going to take a different approach for my personal new year's resolutions. My sister-in-law has been doing this and has had success. Instead of writing down fifty things she wants to do and getting overwhelmed, she does a "year of health" or a "year of learning". That year she focuses on that one thing all year. In the year of health whenever she has a choice she'll think, well this is my year of health, will that help my goal? I love this idea because you can really focus and achieve without feeling guilty. Many of the things I write down to do I'm already doing or thinking about everyday. I'm hoping this will help me. I haven't decided what my "year" will be, but I hope this might help you with your new year's resolutions.

  2. I love the dream board! There is a power to lists. I don't really understand why, but whenever I write down goals or dreams, everything gets more real, and fast.
