Feathers Flights // Sewing Blog: My Own Sewing Machine

My Own Sewing Machine

Guess what!? I got my very own sewing machine yesterday! What a dream come true (besides getting married to my best friend of course!)I've been using my school or work machines for everything I do. My school has about forty machines and they switch out eight every year. Those eight machines go back to the Bernina store in town where they are sold for a used price. I was one the list but I was number nine or ten. I didn't think I'd get one till next year. I have been praying for a machine though, so I know that helped. Yesterday I got a call from the Bernina store, and they said someone else hadn't wanted one so I was next on the list! I was so excited and have been floating everywhere since. I even woke up this morning to check on it because I thought I'd dreamed it! I might be using it at this desk, but I haven't decided yet. I'm just so excited! Does anyone have any good names? This is my new friend, so it has to have a name.

  1. New reader! Your blog is lovely, I'll be following you form now on

  2. Aahh! Bernina is the best!! I'm glad you were able to get your own machine!
And sorry...I have no idea for a name.

  3. Oooh, it's so fancy! Congrats! How about Petunia? lol

  4. Awesome! I'm happy for you! :) The last time I used a sewing machine, it wasn't digital!

I feel like giving people names for things they own just makes me attached to those things... so I'm going to have to pass on that! I do not want to be coveting your new friend! Good luck, though! She's a beauty!

  5. I'm a new reader as well! I'm looking into getting a sewing machine and have been wondering what you use. Do you prefer Bernina. I have heard nothing but good things about Bernina!

  6. I am quite partial to Berninas. That's just because I have used a Bernina Aurora 430 all throughout school, and then at work I use an industrial Bernina. I really love industrials because they go SO fast, but it was more logical to get a home machine. I like Berninas because they work really well and know of people using them for thirty to forty years with only a check up or two. They are quite expensive and not worth it unless you get a used one, but it's an investment that will last a long time. Other brands I know of that are good are Babylocks and Brothers if you get them at a fabric store and not Wal-mart. If you have any other questions you can email me!
