Feathers Flights // Sewing Blog: Plaid Belt Tutorial

Plaid Belt Tutorial

I needed a wide belt for my waist. There was some extra wool plaid fabric that worked perfectly. Here's the fabric cut out. I did double sided, sewed it, and then flipped it inside out. I also don't have a picture when I put iron-on interfacing on the inside. The interfacing is important because it adds firmness and stability to the belt. Don't forget to trim the corners. One edge I sewed into a point. Don't forget to trim those corners either. Flipped inside out and ironed flat.
The nifty button i found Sewed buttonhole I pin both edges on the inside of the bar tack and then cut it open with a seam ripper. sewing on the button the edge kind of flips up so I sewed in a hook and eye the finished product close-up I'm wearing it with a vintage orange skirt from my grandmother.
